Just the thought of travelling with a baby can be daunting. Being prepared can make the whole experience stress free or less stressful.

Flying is not a pleasant experience for many of us and flying with a baby can magnify the stress. If you are flying with your baby for the first time then it can be daunting.

However it should not have to be so over whelming that you postpone your travelling plans. We have gathered some helpful tips for you to survive your first flight with your baby.

Packing

Try to pack what baby needs in your hand luggage. Enough nappies, wet wipes, bibs, toys , change of clothes, feeding bottles and formulas. If you are breast feeding your baby then the things you need as well. Have plenty of back up in your main luggage but pack enough for the flight and till you go the hotel after landing.

Choose the right luggage

Choose a luggage with four wheels instead of two wheels. It is easy to maneuver while you carry your baby in the harness. These four wheel luggage can be easily move around the airport.

Feeding

Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding your baby, feeding your baby during take-off and landing is the best time. Their sucking motion helps to equalise baby’s ears during the process and help alleviate pain in a their ears.

Choosing the right flight

Study your baby’s sleeping patterns and book the flight if possible for these times. Your baby will be sleeping through out the flight time and it will make your time less stressful. Also take your bathroom break before take off so you will not have to leave your baby and go.

Choose an aisle seat so you can get up and walk easily if you have to settle your baby. Also it is easy for you to go the toilet for a nappy change. It is less disruptive for other passengers.

Flying with your baby is a challenge, but not impossible. Hope some of these tips will help you to have a comfortable flight with your baby.

Finally, drive your family to the airport on the day of your flight. Leave your car with an airport car parking service. Drive to the airport and leave your car with a driver to park in their car park. Meet and Greet airport parking is the most hassle free option when you fly with your baby.
