If you have just started your family then thinking of a trip to Europe may sound expensive. Juggling small kids, jobs and if there is a mortgage, the idea of a trip seems very unrealistic. But it is NOT 🙂 We have some tips to make this a reality and even more , how to save some money as well.
Target school holidays and take time off. Rent your house for the period of your traveling which will provide an income while you are holidaying!
There are house sitting websites and you can find availability for the dates you need a place to stay. Register your selves as house sitters and list down the chores you can do. If you are specialize in house sitting pets then list that. You can stay at the house for free while housesitting at visiting the attractions.
• Pack lots of snacks. These were a lifesaver for us. Just make sure they meet airport requirements.
• Airlines are pretty accommodating with families, so make sure you ask for anything you can such as an extra seat if there are spares.
• Pack lightly.
• Use packing cubes to separate your clothes.
• Be flexible. If your children aren’t having a good day and need a quiet one, listen to their needs.
• Don’t try to cram too much in. You will regret it. Travelling with young children is different to do without, so slow down. Stay at places for longer and plan less.
• Accommodation is key. Research it thoroughly and ensure it is child friendly. This will make a huge difference.
Before you take off… one more thing to do. Book your airport parking! Meet and greet airport parking is the most hassle free option. Specially if you are traveling with kids. Driver meet you at the drop off terminal. Â You do not have to drive to the car park and then hop in to an airport shuttle.
